Women General Counsel – Project 5 / 165

I was happy to participate in the Minneapolis Project 5 / 165 Workshop at Dorsey in Minneapolis today with some of the area’s most influential women corporate counsel. (dorsey.com) Project 5/165 is an invitation-only series of regional educational workshops designed to support and accelerate the development to the role of General Counsel of women in-house lawyers. The goal of Project 5 / 165 is to have 165 women (30%) as General Counsel in Fortune 500 companies within 5 years. As a practicing lawyer for over 20 years, a mother of 3, and a member of Dorsey’s Diversity and Recruiting Committees, I’m keenly interested in how Big-Law can attract and retain more women, both in-house at our clients and in the firm environment. The caliber of the women attorneys at the event (both the General Counsel and those that aspire to be GCs) was stunning and gives much hope for the future of women in positions of leadership in the law.
